Full Journal pdf2003-04-25 Senate Journal Page 0974 SJR 16 SENATE JOINT RESOLUTION NO. 16 Encouraging the federal government to end the federal subsidy of ethanol, and requesting the Congress of the United States to mandate that land currently used to grow corn for the production of ethanol be returned to its natural state, was read the second time. Senator Ben Stevens moved and asked unanimous consent that the resolution be considered engrossed, advanced to third reading and placed on final passage. Without objection, it was so ordered. SENATE JOINT RESOLUTION NO. 16 was read the third time. Senators Wilken, Dyson, Cowdery, Taylor, Seekins, Wagoner, moved and asked unanimous consent to be shown as cosponsors on the resolution. Without objection, it was so ordered. Senators Ben Stevens, Cowdery moved and asked unanimous consent to abstain from voting due to a conflict of interest. Objections were heard and Senators Ben Stevens, Cowdery were required to vote. The question being: "Shall SENATE JOINT RESOLUTION NO. 16 Encouraging the federal government to end the federal subsidy of ethanol, and requesting the Congress of the United States to mandate that land currently used to grow corn for the production of ethanol be returned to its natural state, pass the Senate?" Senator Elton gave notice of reconsideration.
