Representative Joule had been previously excused from a call of the House today. Representatives Heinze, Kapsner, and Masek were absent and their presence was noted later. The invocation was offered by the Chaplain, Pastor Greg Lindsay of Northern Light United Church. Representative Coghill moved and asked unanimous consent that the invocation be spread on the journal. There being no objection, it was so ordered. In deepest respect for the spiritual life of each person here, let us pause for a moment of prayer and reflection. Let us pray. Gracious and generous God, we would be ungrateful if we were to go another minute without thanking You for the beauty of this week; for the warmth we feel in the sun and for the joy we experience beneath the snow-capped mountains and clear blue skies. Thank You for that great gift. We pray, O God, that You not let us get distracted by that incredible beauty to the detriment of the work that is before us. For we have been charged with serving all the people of this state, with bringing our very best to the process, and distractions will only diminish the possibilities and the opportunities for doing great things on their behalf. 2003-04-25 House Journal Page 1116 Awaken in us today with Your beauty a renewed sense of purpose. Open our eyes and our hearts to the hope and the healing that only You can bring. Rekindle in us a new sense of cooperation and openness, that together, with Your help, O God, no one in this great state gets left out or forgotten. Amen. The Pledge of Allegiance was led by Representative Morgan.
