In accordance with AS 39.05.080, the Senate Judiciary Committee                
reviewed the qualifications of the following and recommends the                
appointment be forwarded to a joint session for consideration:                 
                                                                               
Board of Governors of the Alaska Bar                                         
	Joseph N. Faulhaber, Fairbanks                                                
                                                                               
There was a stated objection to the named individual by Senator                
Donley. However, this does not reflect an intent by any of the                 
members to vote for or against the appointment during any further              
session.

SJR 8                                                                        
The State Affairs Committee considered SENATE JOINT                            
RESOLUTION NO. 8 Relating to the 2000 decennial United States                  
census and to the development of redistricting data for use by the             
state in legislative redistricting. Signing do pass: Senator Ward,             
Chair, Senators Phillips, Green. Signing no recommendation: Senator            
Wilken. Signing do not pass: Senator Elton.

SJR 10                                                                       
The State Affairs Committee considered SENATE JOINT                            
RESOLUTION NO. 10 Proposing amendments to the Constitution of                  
the State of Alaska requiring that the provisions of a bill that levy          
new state taxes or increase the rate of a state tax require the                
affirmative vote of at least two-thirds of the membership of each              
house of the legislature. Signing do pass: Senator Ward, Chair.                
Signing no recommendation: Senators Phillips, Green, Wilken.                   
Signing do not pass: Senator Elton.
