The following was again before the House in third reading: CS FOR HOUSE BILL NO. 159(FIN) "An Act permitting certain employees in state correctional facilities to convert their credited service under the public employees' retirement system to credited service as peace officers." Representative Mulder moved and asked unanimous consent that CSHB 159(FIN) be returned to second reading for the specific purpose of considering Amendment No. 1. There being no objection, it was so ordered. Amendment No. 1 was offered by Representative Mulder: Page 1, line 1, following "facilities" (title amendment): Insert "or employed in the Department of Corrections" Page 1, line 8, following "superintendent": Insert "or who was employed in the Department of Corrections in a management position in the division with responsibility for institutions or the division with responsibility for community corrections" Page 2, line 4, following ".": Insert "In this subsection, "management position" includes positions as division director, deputy director, and assistant director." Representative Mulder moved and asked unanimous consent that Amendment No. 1 be adopted. 2000-04-11 House Journal Page 3058 HB 159 Objection was heard and withdrawn. There being no further objection, Amendment No. 1 was adopted and the new title appears below: CS FOR HOUSE BILL NO. 159(FIN) am "An Act permitting certain employees in state correctional facilities or employed in the Department of Corrections to convert their credited service under the public employees' retirement system to credited service as peace officers." The question to be reconsidered: "Shall CSHB 159(FIN) am pass the House?"
