Senator Duncan offered Amendment No. 1 : Page 1, line 1, following "Maintenance": Insert "and Capital Facilities" Page 1, line 9, following "needs": Insert "; and WHEREAS the state has extensive needs for construction of new facilities and expansion of existing facilities, including schools, prisons, transportation projects, and sanitation systems" Page 1, line 11, following "Maintenance": Insert "and Capital Facilities" Page 1, line 12, following "maintenance": Insert ", new construction, and expansion" Page 2, line 16, following "maintenance": Insert ", new construction, and expansion" Page 2, following line 20: Insert a new paragraph to read: "(3) identify and evaluate financing options for deferred maintenance, new construction, and expansion of public facilities;" Renumber the following paragraphs accordingly. Page 2, line 25, following "maintenance": Insert ", new construction, and expansion needs" Page 2, line 26, following "maintenance": Insert ", new construction, and expansion" 1997-03-25 Senate Journal Page 0857 HCR 8 Senator Duncan moved for the adoption of Amendment No. 1. Objections were heard. The question being: Shall Amendment No. 1 be adopted? The roll was taken with the following result: HCR 8 Amendment No. 1 YEAS: 8 NAYS: 10 EXCUSED: 2 ABSENT: 0 Yeas: Adams, Duncan, Ellis, Hoffman, Kelly, Lincoln, Phillips, Wilken Nays: Donley, Green, Leman, Miller, Parnell, Pearce, Sharp, Taylor, Torgerson, Ward Excused: Halford, Mackie Pearce changed from "Yea" to "Nay". Leman changed from "Yea" to "Nay". and so, Amendment No. 1 failed. HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION NO. 8 was before the Senate on final passage. The question being: Shall HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION NO. 8 Creating the Deferred Maintenance Task Force, pass the Senate?
