The Finance Committee considered SPONSOR SUBSTITUTE FOR                        
SENATE BILL NO. 71 "An Act relating to emergency medical                       
services; and repealing obsolete references to the Statewide Health            
Coordinating Council and health systems agencies" and recommended

It is the intent of the legislature that the department                       
will use a computerized database program for the                               
collection of trauma data.  A priority in designing                            
the system should be ease of use for pre-hospital                              
and hospital facilities in providing information to                            
the database through their own use of standard                                 
desktop software programs.  It is further the intent                           
of the legislature that the trauma injury data                                 
collection be eventually integrated with a broader                             
effort which includes epidemiology and other state                             
health information.
