00 SENATE JOINT RESOLUTION NO. 17 01 Recognizing and honoring the 50th anniversary of The Energy Council. 02 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF ALASKA: 03 WHEREAS The Energy Council is celebrating its 50th anniversary; and 04 WHEREAS the provision of reliable and consistent energy is critical to achieving 05 economic stability and ensuring global security, and a steady supply of oil and gas is 06 instrumental in meeting consumer demands and safeguarding energy independence; and 07 WHEREAS The Energy Council was established in 1975 as a nonpartisan forum for 08 legislators from Texas, Louisiana, Arkansas, Oklahoma, and New Mexico to engage in 09 dialogue and to collaborate on energy policy that was pertinent to constituents; and 10 WHEREAS The Energy Council has since expanded to include 14 member states and 11 the Canadian provinces of Alberta and Saskatchewan, thereby enriching the discourse on state 12 and federal energy and environmental policy; and 13 WHEREAS The Energy Council plays a vital role in informing lawmakers about 14 economic trends and emerging technologies in an evolving energy landscape because its 15 members adeptly leverage an understanding of global trends and policies to craft effective 16 energy solutions and promote a comprehensive understanding of the interrelationship between

01 energy and the environment; and 02 WHEREAS, for five decades, The Energy Council has actively contributed to the 03 discourse surrounding energy generation and policy that shapes the daily lives of Americans, 04 and its members are highly deserving of commendation for a steadfast commitment to 05 informed energy policy leadership; 06 BE IT RESOLVED that the Alaska State Legislature is honored to extend its sincere 07 commendations to all individuals associated with The Energy Council and offer genuine 08 congratulations on the organization's 50th anniversary. 09 COPIES of this resolution shall be sent to The Energy Council.
