Trump, Secretary of the Interior Douglas Burgum, and relevant federal agencies to take all necessary actions to expedite the success of the Alaska Liquefied Natural Gas Project.
00 CS FOR HOUSE JOINT RESOLUTION NO. 18(RES) am 01 Supporting the continued development of the Alaska Liquefied Natural Gas Project; 02 recognizing the importance of the Alaska Liquefied Natural Gas Project to the economy 03 of the state, energy independence, and national security; and urging the United States 04 Congress, President Donald J. Trump, Secretary of the Interior Douglas Burgum, and 05 relevant federal agencies to take all necessary actions to expedite the success of the 06 Alaska Liquefied Natural Gas Project. 07 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF ALASKA: 08 WHEREAS the state has long played a critical role in the energy independence of the 09 nation, with its vast natural gas resources representing the largest untapped reservoir in North 10 America; and 11 WHEREAS the Alaska Liquefied Natural Gas Project, a long-envisioned pipeline and 12 export facility connecting North Slope gas to global markets, would create thousands of high- 13 paying jobs for state residents and generate long-term state and local revenue; and 14 WHEREAS the state is rich in natural resources but also immense in size, which
01 makes supplying reliable, cost-effective energy a challenge; and 02 WHEREAS residents from Fairbanks to Fort Yukon face tremendous energy costs 03 that could be alleviated by the completion of the Alaska Liquefied Natural Gas Project and the 04 exportation of liquefied natural gas around the world; and 05 WHEREAS recent federal support and attention under the administration of President 06 Donald J. Trump, including by the Executive Order "Unleashing Alaska's Extraordinary 07 Resource Potential," which was signed by President Trump on his first day in office, and 08 President Trump's remarks during his March 6, 2025, address to Congress, underscore the 09 strategic importance of the project and represent a major acceleration in momentum; and 10 WHEREAS President Trump has consistently voiced strong support for the Alaska 11 Liquefied Natural Gas Project and the right of the state to responsibly develop its natural 12 resources; and 13 WHEREAS the project is poised to become a cornerstone of economic revitalization 14 in the state, providing reliable long-term infrastructure for both domestic energy security and 15 global export opportunities; and 16 WHEREAS the Alaska Liquefied Natural Gas Project has advanced environmental 17 reviews, permitting, and international interest, signaling readiness for final-stage federal 18 support, financing, and permitting coordination; and 19 WHEREAS the Alaska Liquefied Natural Gas Project is the only federally authorized 20 liquefied natural gas export project on the Pacific Coast of the United States, creating a short, 21 direct energy corridor that avoids canal chokepoints and contested waters to enable our allies 22 to reliably access liquefied natural gas from the state instead of relying on adversarial nations; 23 BE IT RESOLVED that the Alaska State Legislature strongly supports the rapid 24 advancement and construction of the Alaska Liquefied Natural Gas Project and recognizes its 25 critical and strategic role in the future of the state and the energy security of the United States; 26 and be it 27 FURTHER RESOLVED that the Alaska State Legislature expresses its sincere 28 appreciation for President Trump's leadership and support for the Alaska Liquefied Natural 29 Gas Project and respectfully requests the support of Douglas Burgum, United States Secretary 30 of the Interior, the Department of Energy, the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission, 31 members of the Alaska delegation in Congress, and all relevant federal agencies to expedite
01 approvals, coordinate agency review, and ensure federal partnership for this vital project. 02 COPIES of this resolution shall be sent to the Honorable Donald J. Trump, President 03 of the United States; the Honorable Douglas Burgum, United States Secretary of the Interior; 04 the Honorable Chris Wright, United States Secretary of Energy; the commissioners of the 05 Federal Energy Regulatory Commission; and the Honorable Lisa Murkowski and the 06 Honorable Dan Sullivan, U.S. Senators, and the Honorable Nicholas Begich, U.S. 07 Representative, members of the Alaska delegation in Congress.
