01 "An Act relating to wrongfully seized game."                                                                            
02 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF ALASKA:                                                                
03    * Section 1. AS 16.05 is amended by adding a new section to read:                                                  
04 Sec. 16.05.197. Compensation for wrongfully seized game meat. (a) If a                                                
05 court finds that the state or an agent of the state wrongfully seized game from an                                      
06 individual, the department shall provide monetary compensation to the individual in                                     
07 an amount approximately equal to the weight in pounds of the wrongfully seized game                                     
08 meat multiplied by the current prevailing per-pound retail price of beef sold in the area                               
09       the game was originally taken.                                                                                    
10            (b)  In this section, "game meat" means meat from bison, caribou, deer, elk,                                 
11       goat, moose, mountain or Dall sheep, and musk ox.
