00 SENATE BILL NO. 164 01 "An Act making certain veterans eligible for a lifetime permit to access state park 02 campsites and facilities without charge; and providing for an effective date." 03 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF ALASKA: 04 * Section 1. AS 41.21.026(d) is amended to read: 05 (d) The department shall issue free of charge to a disabled veteran 06 [VETERANS] of this country a [AN ANNUAL] state park developed campsite and 07 facility permit that is valid for the life of the permit holder. The permit shall allow 08 the [A] disabled veteran to use a state park developed campsite and a developed 09 facility with developed parking and rest rooms [CAMPSITE] for personal 10 recreation use without a charge or fee under (a)(2) or (10) of this section. A permit 11 issued under this subsection does not require renewal. While utilizing a developed 12 campsite or facility without charge under this subsection, the disabled veteran shall 13 comply with all other statutes or regulations pertaining to the use of the developed 14 campsite or facility. The department shall provide a form for use by a disabled veteran
01 when applying for a permit under this section. Not later than February 1 of each year, 02 the department shall prepare a report on the number of permits issued to disabled 03 veterans under this subsection during the previous calendar year and notify the 04 legislature that the report is available. 05 * Sec. 2. This Act takes effect July 1, 2024.
