01 "An Act relating to the office of victims' rights; and providing for an effective date."                                
02 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF ALASKA:                                                                
03    * Section 1. AS 24.65.060 is amended to read:                                                                      
04            Sec. 24.65.060. Compensation. The victims' advocate is entitled to receive an                              
05       annual salary of Range 26 on the salary schedule set out in AS 39.27.011(a) and (l)                         
06       [FOR JUNEAU].                                                                                                   
07    * Sec. 2. AS 24.65.070(c) is amended to read:                                                                      
08            (c)  The victims' advocate and the staff appointed by the victims' advocate are                              
09       in the exempt service under AS 39.25.110 and are not subject to the employment                                    
10       policies under AS 24.10 or AS 24.20. Staff appointed by the victims' advocate shall                           
11                 (1)  be compensated under the state salary schedule set out in                                      
12       AS 39.27.011(a); or                                                                                           
13                 (2)  if the position requires admission to the practice of law in this                              
14       state as a condition of employment, be compensated under the state salary                                     
15       schedule set out in AS 39.27.011(a) and (l).                                                                

01    * Sec. 3. This Act takes effect immediately under AS 01.10.070(c).
