01 "An Act exempting veterinarians from the requirements of the controlled substance                                       
02 prescription database; and providing for an effective date."                                                            
03 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF ALASKA:                                                                
04    * Section 1. AS 17.30.200(o) is amended to read:                                                                   
05 (o)  The board shall promptly notify the State Medical Board, the Board of                                              
06 Nursing, the Board of Dental Examiners, and the Board of Examiners in Optometry [,                                  
07 AND THE BOARD OF VETERINARY EXAMINERS] when a practitioner registers                                                    
08       with the database under (n) of this section.                                                                      
09    * Sec. 2. AS 17.30.200 is amended by adding a new subsection to read:                                              
10            (v)  This section does not apply to a schedule II, III, or IV controlled substance                           
11       prescribed or dispensed by a veterinarian licensed under AS 08.98 to treat an animal.                             
12    * Sec. 3. AS 08.98.050(a)(10) is repealed.                                                                         
13    * Sec. 4. This Act takes effect immediately under AS 01.10.070(c).
