00                         HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 2                                                                         
01 Establishing a House Special Committee on Fisheries.                                                                    
02 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES:                                                                         
03       WHEREAS fishing for personal use helps to define the Alaska lifestyle for many                                  
04 state residents; and                                                                                                    
05       WHEREAS sport fishing plays a significant role in the state tourism industry; and                               
06       WHEREAS the commercial fishing industry is one of the state's largest renewable                                 
07 resource industries; and                                                                                                
08       WHEREAS the state's subsistence fisheries are an important use of the state's                                   
09 fisheries resources; and                                                                                                
10       WHEREAS the Alaska State Legislature must be well informed on all issues related                                
11 to the fisheries of the state;                                                                                          
12       BE IT RESOLVED by the House of Representatives that a House Special Committee                                   
13 on Fisheries is established to study fishery issues relevant to the state; and be it                                    
14       FURTHER RESOLVED that the Speaker of the House of Representatives shall                                         
15 determine the number of representatives to be members of the committee, appoint the                                     
16 members, and designate a member or members to chair the committee; and be it                                            

01       FURTHER RESOLVED that the House Special Committee on Fisheries may meet                                         
02 during and between sessions of the Thirty-Third Alaska State Legislature and is terminated on                           
03 the convening of the First Regular Session of the Thirty-Fourth Alaska State Legislature.
