01 "An Act relating to legal representation of public officers in ethics complaints; and                                   
02 providing for an effective date."                                                                                       
03 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF ALASKA:                                                                
04    * Section 1. AS 39.52 is amended by adding a new section to read:                                                  
05 Sec. 39.52.165. Representation of public officers. The Department of Law,                                             
06 including the attorney general, may not represent or advise the governor, the lieutenant                                
07 governor, or another public officer or former public officer in a matter in which that                                  
08 public officer or former public officer is the subject of a complaint filed under this                                  
09       chapter.                                                                                                          
10    * Sec. 2. This Act takes effect immediately under AS 01.10.070(c).
