00 SENATE BILL NO. 95 01 "An Act relating to the right of first refusal of a volunteer search and rescue group with 02 respect to surplus state property." 03 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF ALASKA: 04 * Section 1. The uncodified law of the State of Alaska is amended by adding a new section 05 to read: 06 SHORT TITLE. This Act may be known as the Ellie Mae Act. 07 * Sec. 2. AS 44.68.110 is amended by adding a new subsection to read: 08 (c) A group of volunteers that is organized to provide search and rescue 09 services in the state, including participation in a search and rescue party under 10 AS 18.60.120, may exercise a right of first refusal with respect to obsolete or surplus 11 property that may assist in carrying out search and rescue services before the property 12 is sold, leased, licensed, or disposed of under (a) of this section. The Department of 13 Administration shall provide public notice of the availability of obsolete or surplus 14 property that may assist in carrying out search and rescue services before the property

01 is sold, leased, licensed, or disposed of under (a) of this section, as provided by 02 regulation. In this subsection, "search and rescue services" means a search for a person 03 who is lost, injured, killed, or in need of immediate rescue, the provision of aid to a 04 person who is in distress or in immediate danger, or the retrieval of a person's remains.
