01 "An Act relating to education; increasing the base student allocation according to                                      
02 inflation; and providing for an effective date."                                                                        
03 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF ALASKA:                                                                
04    * Section 1. AS 14.17.470 is amended by adding a new subsection to read:                                             
05 (b)  On July 1 of each year, the department shall increase the base student                                             
06 allocation by a percentage equal to the average percentage of increase over the first                                   
07 three of the preceding four calendar years in all items of the Consumer Price Index for                                 
08 Urban Alaska prepared by the United States Department of Labor, Bureau of Labor                                         
09       Statistics.                                                                                                       
10    * Sec. 2. This Act takes effect July 1, 2024.
