00 SENATE BILL NO. 1001 01 "An Act making appropriations for public education and transportation of students; 02 repealing appropriations; and providing for an effective date." 03 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF ALASKA: 04 * Section 1. DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION AND EARLY DEVELOPMENT. The 05 sum of $30,000,000 is appropriated from the general fund to the Department of Education and 06 Early Development to be distributed as grants to school districts according to the average 07 daily membership for each district adjusted under AS 14.17.410(b)(1)(A) - (D) for the fiscal 08 year ending June 30, 2020. 09 * Sec. 2. FUND CAPITALIZATION. (a) The amount necessary, estimated to be 10 $1,172,603,900, to fund the total amount for the fiscal year ending June 30, 2020, of state aid 11 calculated under the public school funding formula under AS 14.17.410(b), is appropriated 12 from the general fund to the public education fund (AS 14.17.300). 13 (b) The amount necessary, estimated to be $77,214,600, to fund transportation of 14 students under AS 14.09.010 for the fiscal year ending June 30, 2020, is appropriated from the

01 general fund to the public education fund (AS 14.17.300). 02 * Sec. 3. Sections 4 and 5(c) - (d), ch. 6, SLA 2018, are repealed. 03 * Sec. 4. LAPSE. The appropriations made in sec. 2 of this Act are for the capitalization of 04 a fund and do not lapse. 05 * Sec. 5. Section 3 of this Act takes effect June 30, 2019. 06 * Sec. 6. Except as provided in sec. 5 of this Act, this Act takes effect July 1, 2019.
