00 HOUSE JOINT RESOLUTION NO. 20 01 Proposing an amendment to the Constitution of the State of Alaska prohibiting the 02 imposition and collection of an income tax. 03 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF ALASKA: 04 * Section 1. Article IX, sec. 1, Constitution of the State of Alaska, is amended to read: 05 Section 1. Taxing Power. The power of taxation shall never be surrendered. 06 This power shall not be suspended or contracted away, except as provided in this 07 article. The State shall not impose or collect an individual, corporate, or other tax 08 on income from any source, including income from wages, interest, dividends, or 09 investments. 10 * Sec. 2. The amendment proposed by this resolution shall be placed before the voters of the 11 state at the next general election in conformity with art. XIII, sec. 1, Constitution of the State 12 of Alaska, and the election laws of the state.
