01 "An Act relating to voter preregistration for minors at least 16 years of age."                                         
02 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF ALASKA:                                                                
03    * Section 1. AS 15.07.040 is amended by adding new subsections to read:                                            
04            (b)  A person may preregister to vote at any time if the person                                              
05                 (1)  is at least 16 years of age;                                                                       
06                 (2)  does not yet meet the age requirement to register under (a) of this                                
07       section;                                                                                                          
08                 (3)  provides the information required under AS 15.07.060(1) - (4), (7)                                 
09       - (9), and (11) - (12) to a registration official or a voter registration agency as required                      
10       under AS 15.07.050(a); and                                                                                        
11                 (4)  otherwise meets the qualifications of a voter in AS 15.05.010(1)                                   
12       and (3).                                                                                                          
13            (c)  When a person has preregistered to vote under (b) of this section, the                                  
14       division shall, 90 days before the person reaches 18 years of age, register the person to                         
15       vote and forward to the person an acknowledgment in the form of a registration card.
