01 "An Act relating to public school funding for social and emotional learning; and                                        
02 providing for an effective date."                                                                                       
03 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF ALASKA:                                                                
04    * Section 1. AS 14.17 is amended by adding a new section to read:                                                  
05 Sec. 14.17.425. State funding for social and emotional learning. As a                                                 
06 component of public school funding, each public school shall allocate to social and                                     
07 emotional learning one-half of one percent of state aid received under AS 14.17.410.                                    
08 The funding allocated to social and emotional learning under this section may not be                                    
09 used for costs associated with administrative expenses or instruction in general                                        
10       literacy, mathematics, or job readiness.                                                                          
11    * Sec. 2. This Act takes effect July 1, 2020.
