00 CS FOR HOUSE BILL NO. 109(EDC) am 01 "An Act relating to residency requirements for public school enrollment for certain 02 children of active duty military and National Guard members." 03 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF ALASKA: 04 * Section 1. AS 14.03.080 is amended by adding a new subsection to read: 05 (g) A school district shall consider a student to be a resident of the district and 06 admit the student to a public school in the district if a parent or guardian of the student 07 is serving as an active duty member of the armed forces of the United States or a 08 member of the National Guard and is transferred or pending transfer under an official 09 military order to a military installation in the state from another military installation 10 within the state or from outside of the state. The parent or guardian of the student shall 11 provide to the school district written proof of residence on an official document within 12 10 days of the student's first day of attendance in the school district. In this subsection, 13 (1) "military installation" means a base, camp, post, station, yard, 14 center, homeport facility for a ship, armory, or other installation under the jurisdiction

01 of the United States Department of Defense or the United States Coast Guard; 02 (2) "residence" means the principal dwelling place of an active duty 03 parent or guardian.
