00 CS FOR HOUSE BILL NO. 109(MLV) 01 "An Act relating to residency requirements for public school enrollment for certain 02 children of active duty military and National Guard members." 03 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF ALASKA: 04 * Section 1. AS 14.03.080 is amended by adding a new subsection to read: 05 (g) A school district shall consider a student to be a resident of the district and 06 admit the student to a public school in the district if a parent of the student is serving 07 as an active duty member of the armed forces of the United States or a member of the 08 National Guard and is transferred or pending transfer under an official military order 09 to a military installation in the state from another military installation within the state 10 or from outside of the state. The parent of the student shall provide to the school 11 district written proof of residence on an official document within 10 days of the 12 student's first day of attendance in the school district. In this subsection, 13 (1) "military installation" means a base, camp, post, station, yard, 14 center, homeport facility for a ship, or other installation under the jurisdiction of the

01 United States Department of Defense or the United States Coast Guard; 02 (2) "residence" means the principal dwelling place of an active duty 03 parent.
