00 HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION NO. 18 01 Amending the Uniform Rules of the Alaska State Legislature to prevent a legislator 02 from being absent after the 90th consecutive calendar day from the date the regular 03 session convened if an appropriation bill authorizing state operating expenditures has 04 not been passed. 05 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF ALASKA: 06 * Section 1. Rule 15, Uniform Rules of the Alaska State Legislature, is amended to read: 07 Rule 15. Absence of Members. Except as provided in (b) of this section, a 08 [A] member may not be absent from sittings of the house unless the member has the 09 leave of the house to be absent or is ill and unable to attend. A member who is 10 consistently absent from meetings of a standing committee to which assigned may be 11 removed from that committee by the Committee on Committees upon a showing that 12 the member's absence is unwarranted. 13 * Sec. 2. Rule 15, Uniform Rules of the Alaska State Legislature, is amended by adding a 14 new subsection to read: 15 (b) A member may not be absent from sittings of the house in a regular

01 session if the house has been in session for over 90 consecutive calendar days from the 02 date the session convened and the house has not passed an appropriation bill 03 authorizing full funding of state operating expenditures for the next fiscal year.
