01 "An Act relating to the licensure of nail technicians; and providing for an effective                                   
02 date."                                                                                                                  
03 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF ALASKA:                                                                
04    * Section 1. The uncodified law of the State of Alaska enacted in sec. 13(a), ch. 27, SLA                          
05 2015, is amended to read:                                                                                               
06 (a)  On and after January 1, 2016, a person who holds a valid license to                                                
07 practice manicuring on January 1, 2016, may continue to engage in the practice of                                       
08 manicuring under the license until the license expires normally under AS 08.13, as                                      
09 AS 08.13 existed before January 1, 2016, but shall otherwise comply with AS 08.13,                                      
10       as amended by this Act. A person who is eligible to engage in the practice of                                     
11       manicuring under this subsection may, for one                                                                     
12                 (1)  renewal period, renew the person's license to practice manicuring                              
13       [IF,] before August 31, 2017, if the person meets the requirements for renewal                                
14       under AS 08.13 as AS 08.13 existed before January 1, 2016; and                                                

01                 (2)  additional renewal period, renew the person's license to                                       
02       practice manicuring before August 31, 2019 [AUGUST 31, 2017], if the person                               
03                      (A) [(1)]  submits proof satisfactory to the board that the person                             
04            has completed 250 hours of work experience as a manicurist; and                                              
05                      (B) [(2)]  has taken and passed a written or oral examination                                  
06            under AS 08.13.090.                                                                                          
07    * Sec. 2. The uncodified law of the State of Alaska is amended by adding a new section to                          
08 read:                                                                                                                   
09       RETROACTIVITY. Section 1 of this Act is retroactive to January 1, 2016.                                           
10    * Sec. 3. This Act takes effect immediately under AS 01.10.070(c).
