00 CS FOR HOUSE BILL NO. 181(STA) 01 "An Act relating to per diem for legislators; relating to a travel allowance for legislators 02 and legislative employees; and relating to the State Officers Compensation 03 Commission." 04 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF ALASKA: 05 * Section 1. AS 24.10.120(a) is amended to read: 06 (a) Salaries, travel allowances, per diem for legislators during legislative 07 sessions, travel expenses, relocation expenses, and additional allowances for members 08 of the legislature shall be paid, subject to appropriation, as approved by the 09 legislative fiscal officer. 10 * Sec. 2. AS 24.10.130(c) is amended to read: 11 (c) The Alaska Legislative Council shall adopt a policy in accordance with 12 AS 39.23.540(d) regarding reimbursement for moving expenses applicable to all 13 legislators and a policy allowing a travel allowance for all legislators and 14 legislative employees [AN APPLICABLE PER DIEM ALLOWANCE POLICY].
01 The policies [POLICY] must set conditions for the reimbursement for moving 02 expenses and payment of travel allowances [PER DIEM] and prescribe the amounts 03 of reimbursement adapted to the special needs of the legislative branch as determined 04 by the council. 05 * Sec. 3. AS 24.10.130 is amended by adding a new subsection to read: 06 (d) Legislators may receive a per diem allowance during legislative sessions 07 as recommended by the State Officers Compensation Commission under 08 AS 39.23.580, unless disapproved by the legislature as provided in AS 39.23.540(d), 09 and subject to appropriation as provided in AS 39.23.540(g). 10 * Sec. 4. AS 24.20.660 is amended to read: 11 Sec. 24.20.660. Travel allowance [AND PER DIEM ALLOWANCES]. 12 Members of the Joint Armed Services Committee are entitled to reimbursement for 13 travel expenses. Members of the committee shall receive a travel allowance [PER 14 DIEM ALLOWANCES] in accordance with the policy adopted by the legislative 15 council under AS 24.10.130(c). 16 * Sec. 5. AS 39.23.580 is amended to read: 17 Sec. 39.23.580. Policy of the legislature. It is the policy of the legislature that 18 the commission recommend an equitable rate and form of compensation, per diem 19 allowances during legislative sessions, benefits, and other allowances for legislators. 20 * Sec. 6. AS 24.10.130(b) is repealed.
