01 "An Act relating to school district participation in the school construction grant                                      
02 program."                                                                                                               
03 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF ALASKA:                                                                
04    * Section 1. AS 14.11.008(a) is amended to read:                                                                   
05 (a)  In order to receive a grant under this chapter or an appropriation under                                           
06 AS 37.05.560, a district must provide a percentage share of the project cost, as                                        
07 determined under (b) or (c) of this section. Except as provided in (d) or (g) of this                               
08 section, a [A] district shall provide the required participating share within five                              
09 [THREE] years after the date that the appropriation bill funding the grant is passed by                                 
10       the legislature.                                                                                                  
11    * Sec. 2. AS 14.11.008 is amended by adding a new subsection to read:                                              
12 (g)  The commissioner may extend the time allowed for a district to provide                                             
13 the required participating share for an additional period of not more than three years if                               
14 the district applies to the commissioner in writing to request an extension and                                         

01       demonstrates good cause for the requested extension.                                                              
02    * Sec. 3. The uncodified law of the State of Alaska is amended by adding a new section to                          
03 read:                                                                                                                   
04       APPLICABILITY. AS 14.11.008(a), as amended by sec. 1 of this Act, and                                             
05 AS 14.11.008(g), enacted by sec. 2 of this Act, apply to a grant approved under AS 14.11.008                            
06 before, on, or after the effective date of this Act.
