01 "An Act relating to the art requirements for certain state ferries; and providing for an                                
02 effective date."                                                                                                        
03 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF ALASKA:                                                                
04    * Section 1. The uncodified law of the State of Alaska is amended by adding a new section                          
05 to read:                                                                                                                
06 STATE FERRY CONSTRUCTION PROJECTS NOT SUBJECT TO ART                                                                    
07 REQUIREMENTS. (a) The construction of the two new Alaska Class Ferry vessels by Vigor                                   
08 Alaska, LLC, at the Ketchikan Shipyard in Ketchikan, Alaska, which are scheduled for                                    
09 delivery in 2018, is not subject to AS 35.27.020.                                                                       
10       (b)  The construction of a replacement vessel for the Motor Vessel Tustumena is not                               
11 subject to AS 35.27.020.                                                                                                
12    * Sec. 2. The uncodified law of the State of Alaska is amended by adding a new section to                          
13 read:                                                                                                                   
14       RETROACTIVITY. Section 1(a) of this act is retroactive to September 1, 2014.                                      

01    * Sec. 3. This Act takes effect immediately under AS 01.10.070(c).
