00 HOUSE BILL NO. 41 01 "An Act relating to joint prime sponsorship of bills." 02 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF ALASKA: 03 * Section 1. The uncodified law of the State of Alaska is amended by adding a new section 04 to read: 05 SHORT TITLE. This Act may be known as the Bipartisan Cooperation Act. 06 * Sec. 2. AS 24.08.060(a) is amended to read: 07 (a) A member of the legislature, a group of members, or a committee 08 chairman, with the concurrence of a majority of the active members of the committee 09 and on behalf of the committee, may introduce a bill or resolution. Bills and 10 resolutions shall be prepared and introduced in the manner and form prescribed in the 11 uniform rules and the legislative style manual. 12 * Sec. 3. AS 24.08.060 is amended by adding a new subsection to read: 13 (c) A bill may be introduced by a group of members of the legislature with up 14 to four joint prime sponsors in the manner and form prescribed in the uniform rules of 15 the legislature and the legislative style manual. All joint prime sponsors must agree to

01 allow additional joint prime sponsors. When the bill is in the possession of a joint 02 prime sponsor's house of the legislature, that joint prime sponsor may remove that 03 sponsor's name in accordance with the uniform rules of the legislature. A bill 04 introduced by joint prime sponsors under this subsection may only be withdrawn with 05 the agreement of all joint prime sponsors and in the manner prescribed in the uniform 06 rules of the legislature.
