01 "An Act relating to arson in the third degree."                                                                         
02 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF ALASKA:                                                                
03    * Section 1. AS 11.46.420(a) is amended to read:                                                                   
04            (a)  A person commits the crime of arson in the third degree if the person                                   
05       intentionally damages a motor vehicle                                                                             
06                 (1)  by starting a fire or causing an explosion while that vehicle is                               
07       located on public [STATE OR MUNICIPAL] land; or                                                           
08                 (2)  that is the property of another person by starting a fire or                                   
09       causing an explosion while that vehicle is located on private property.                                       
10    * Sec. 2. The uncodified law of the State of Alaska is amended by adding a new section to                          
11 read:                                                                                                                   
12       APPLICABILITY. AS 11.46.420(a), as amended by sec. 1 of this Act, applies to                                      
13 offenses committed on or after the effective date of this Act.
