00 HOUSE BILL NO. 279 01 "An Act relating to newspapers of general circulation, execution on property, regulation 02 adoption, abandoned tenant property, and unclaimed property." 03 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF ALASKA: 04 * Section 1. AS 09.35.140(d) is amended to read: 05 (d) In this section, "newspaper of general circulation" means a publication that 06 (1) is published in printed newspaper format; 07 (2) is published each month or more frequently and distributed in 08 each of [AT LEAST ONCE A WEEK FOR AT LEAST 50 WEEKS EACH YEAR 09 WITHIN] the judicial districts in the state [DISTRICT WHERE THE PLACE OF 10 SALE IS LOCATED, EXCLUDING A PERIOD WHEN PUBLICATION IS 11 INTERRUPTED BY A LABOR DISPUTE OR BY A NATURAL DISASTER OR 12 OTHER CASUALTY THAT THE PUBLISHER CANNOT CONTROL]; 13 (3) has a business mail account and holds a [SECOND CLASS] 14 mailing permit from the United States Postal Service;

01 (4) is not published primarily to distribute advertising; and 02 (5) is not intended primarily for a particular professional or 03 occupational group. 04 * Sec. 2. AS 44.62.640(a) is amended by adding a new paragraph to read: 05 (5) "newspaper of general circulation" has the meaning given in 06 AS 09.35.140.
