01 "An Act relating to application requirements for the Alaska performance scholarship                                     
02 program."                                                                                                               
03 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF ALASKA:                                                                
04    * Section 1. AS 14.43.810(b) is amended to read:                                                                   
05            (b)  The department shall, in consultation with the commission, adopt                                        
06       regulations necessary to implement the Alaska performance scholarship program. The                                
07       commission shall administer the daily operations of the Alaska performance                                        
08       scholarship program and financing of the Alaska performance scholarship program,                                  
09       including the procedures for applying for the scholarships and [,] establishing                               
10       standards for and ensuring continuing compliance with programmatic standards.                                 
11       Neither the department nor the commission may require an applicant for an                                     
12       Alaska performance scholarship to submit the Free Application for Federal                                     
13       Student Aid, described under 20 U.S.C. 1082(m)(1)(C) and 20 U.S.C. 1090 [, AND                                
14       REQUIRING STUDENTS TO APPLY FOR OTHER NONLOAN FINANCIAL AID,                                                      

01       CONSISTENT WITH FEDERAL LAW].                                                                                   
02    * Sec. 2. 20 AAC 16.215 is annulled.
