00 CS FOR SENATE BILL NO. 216(FIN) 01 "An Act relating to sexual abuse and sexual assault awareness and prevention efforts in 02 public schools; and providing for an effective date." 03 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF ALASKA: 04 * Section 1. The uncodified law of the State of Alaska is amended by adding a new section 05 to read: 06 SHORT TITLE. This Act may be known as Erin's Law. 07 * Sec. 2. AS 14.30 is amended by adding a new section to read: 08 Article 6A. Sexual Abuse and Sexual Assault Awareness and Prevention. 09 Sec. 14.30.355. Sexual abuse and sexual assault awareness and prevention. 10 (a) The governing body of each school district shall, in consultation with the Council 11 on Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault, adopt and implement a policy, establish a 12 mandatory training program for employees and students enrolled in grades 13 kindergarten through 12, and provide publications relating to sexual abuse and sexual 14 assault awareness and prevention to parents, students, and staff.

01 (b) The policy, training, and publications under this section must include 02 (1) age-appropriate information; 03 (2) warning signs of sexual abuse of a child; 04 (3) referral and resource information; 05 (4) available student counseling and educational support; 06 (5) methods for increasing teacher, student, and parent awareness of 07 issues regarding sexual abuse of children; 08 (6) actions that a child may take to prevent and report sexual abuse or 09 sexual assault. 10 (c) The training required in this section may be provided with the continuing 11 education required for public school employees under AS 18.66.310. 12 (d) In this section, "district" has the meaning given in AS 14.17.990. 13 * Sec. 3. AS 18.66.310 is amended by adding a new subsection to read: 14 (e) When providing the continuing education required under (a) of this 15 section, an employer of public school employees may also provide the training and 16 information required under AS 14.30.355. 17 * Sec. 4. This Act takes effect July 1, 2016.
