00 SENATE BILL NO. 205 01 "An Act requiring municipalities to prohibit elected municipal officials and municipal 02 employees from engaging in partisan political activity while traveling on municipal 03 business and prohibiting state public officials and employees from engaging in partisan 04 political activity while traveling on state business." 05 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF ALASKA: 06 * Section 1. AS 29.10.200 is amended by adding a new paragraph to read: 07 (63) AS 29.20.012 (prohibited conduct). 08 * Sec. 2. AS 29.20 is amended by adding a new section to read: 09 Sec. 29.20.012. Prohibited conduct. (a) Each municipality shall adopt an 10 ordinance that prohibits an elected municipal official or a municipal employee from 11 engaging in partisan political activity while traveling on municipal business when the 12 travel is paid for with municipal funds. Nothing in this section prohibits a municipality 13 from enacting an ordinance that imposes additional limitations on partisan political 14 activity.
01 (b) This section applies to home rule and general law municipalities. 02 * Sec. 3. AS 39.52.120 is amended by adding a new subsection to read: 03 (g) Except as provided in (b)(6) and (f) of this section, a public officer may 04 not engage in partisan political activity while traveling on state business when the 05 travel is paid for with state funds.
