HJR 12: Encouraging the manufacture of firearms and firearms accessories in the state.

00 HOUSE JOINT RESOLUTION NO. 12 01 Encouraging the manufacture of firearms and firearms accessories in the state. 02 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF ALASKA: 03 WHEREAS other states in the nation have enacted or are considering enacting laws 04 that would prohibit the possession of certain firearms and firearms accessories; and 05 WHEREAS those laws may make it impossible for existing manufacturers to remain 06 or do business in those states legally; and 07 WHEREAS, as a result, many manufacturers of firearms and firearms accessories are 08 examining options for relocating their manufacturing to a more firearms-friendly location; and 09 WHEREAS Alaska is a firearms-friendly state with excellent constitutional and 10 statutory protections for firearms possession, use, and manufacture; and 11 WHEREAS the state has a well-educated work force that possesses a strong work 12 ethic, and workers and others in the state enjoy a culture of firearms knowledge and respect; 13 and 14 WHEREAS the state offers open space and natural beauty and is a great place to live 15 and work; 16 BE IT RESOLVED that the Alaska State Legislature encourages threatened firearms

01 and firearms accessories manufacturers to consider the state as a place to conduct business; 02 and be it 03 FURTHER RESOLVED that the Alaska State Legislature urges the Governor to 04 promote the state as open for business for manufacturers of firearms and firearms accessories; 05 and be it 06 FURTHER RESOLVED that the Alaska State Legislature urges the Governor to 07 coordinate with firearms-related groups and businesses in the state to develop contacts with 08 firearms and firearms accessories manufacturers in other states and deliver this resolution to 09 them; and be it 10 FURTHER RESOLVED that the Alaska State Legislature urges the Governor to 11 actively seek out firearms and firearms accessories manufacturers to encourage them to move 12 to the state; and be it 13 FURTHER RESOLVED that the Alaska State Legislature urges the Governor to aid, 14 through all available means, firearms and firearms accessories manufacturers in relocating to 15 the state. 16 COPIES of this resolution shall be sent to the Honorable Sean Parnell, Governor of 17 Alaska; the National Shooting Sports Foundation; A.T.
