00 CS FOR HOUSE BILL NO. 32(L&C) 01 "An Act providing for the issuance of one business license for multiple trades, services, 02 professions, or activities; and providing for reissuance of a business license to make a 03 change on the license." 04 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF ALASKA: 05 * Section 1. AS 43.70.020(a) is amended to read: 06 (a) For the privilege of engaging in a business in the state, a person shall first 07 apply, on [UPON] forms prescribed by the commissioner, and obtain a license, and 08 pay the license fee provided for in AS 43.70.030. A license issued to a firm for a 09 particular trade, service, profession, or activity [LINE OF BUSINESS] covers all its 10 operations in the state [IN THE LINE OF BUSINESS] regardless of the number of its 11 establishments. A license issued under this subsection must include 12 (1) the name and address of the licensee; 13 (2) the primary and secondary trade, service, profession, or 14 activity [LINE OF BUSINESS] to be conducted;

01 (3) the dates for which the license is issued; and 02 (4) the business name to be used by the licensee. 03 * Sec. 2. AS 43.70.020 is amended by adding a new subsection to read: 04 (f) A person may apply for a business license under (a) of this section 05 covering multiple trades, services, professions, or activities. The department shall 06 prepare an application form that allows an applicant to list multiple trades, services, 07 professions, or activities. 08 * Sec. 3. AS 43.70.030 is amended by adding new subsections to read: 09 (e) A license holder may request a new business license without payment of 10 an additional license fee 11 (1) at any time during the period for which the license is valid to 12 correct an error made by the department; or 13 (2) within 30 days after the issuance of the license to make a change to 14 the license. 15 (f) The expiration date of a license issued under (e) of this section is the same 16 as the expiration date of the original license. 17 * Sec. 4. The uncodified law of the State of Alaska is amended by adding a new section to 18 read: 19 TRANSITION. (a) The provisions of AS 43.70.020(f), added by sec. 2 of this Act, 20 relating to business licenses for multiple trades, services, professions, or activities apply to 21 applications for or renewals of business licenses made on or after the effective date of this 22 Act. 23 (b) The Department of Commerce, Community, and Economic Development shall 24 develop procedures for persons with multiple business licenses with different renewal dates to 25 consolidate the licenses into one business license with multiple trades, services, professions, 26 or activities when renewing at least one of the licenses.
