00 HOUSE BILL NO. 350 01 "An Act allowing a person who retires as a peace officer or firefighter under the defined 02 benefit plan of the public employees' retirement system to receive credited service in the 03 plan for up to five years of past military service; and providing for an effective date." 04 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF ALASKA: 05 * Section 1. AS 39.35.340(d) is amended to read: 06 (d) Subject to (j) of this section, the [THE] credited service granted under 07 this section may not be used to satisfy the credited service requirements for normal 08 retirement. 09 * Sec. 2. AS 39.35.340 is amended by adding a new subsection to read: 10 (j) Notwithstanding (d) of this section, credited service granted under this 11 section to a person who retires as a peace officer or firefighter 12 (1) is service as a peace officer or firefighter under AS 39.35.370; and 13 (2) may be used to satisfy the credited service requirements for normal 14 retirement.
