00 HOUSE BILL NO. 295 01 "An Act approving an interim classification by the commissioner of natural resources 02 closing certain land within the Glacier Creek and Winner Creek drainages to new 03 mineral entry; and providing for an effective date." 04 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF ALASKA: 05 * Section 1. The uncodified law of the State of Alaska is amended by adding a new section 06 to read: 07 PURPOSE. The purpose of this Act is to approve the interim classification contained 08 in Mineral Order No. 1121, issued by the commissioner of natural resources, to close state 09 land within the upper Glacier Creek and Winner Creek drainages near Girdwood to new 10 mineral entry. The legislature recognizes that mineral entry would be incompatible with the 11 existing and proposed development of significant surface-based recreational facilities and 12 infrastructure in the Glacier Creek and Winner Creek drainages. The legislature finds that 13 closure of the state-owned mineral estate to new mineral entry will reserve those lands for 14 recreational development opportunities as provided in the land use plans of the state and the
01 Municipality of Anchorage. 02 * Sec. 2. The uncodified law of the State of Alaska is amended by adding a new section to 03 read: 04 MINERAL ENTRY CLOSURE.
