01 "An Act relating to the exemption of certain acts and transactions from the provisions                                  
02 dealing with unfair methods of competition and unfair or deceptive acts or practices."                                  
03 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF ALASKA:                                                                
04    * Section 1. AS 45.50.481(a) is amended to read:                                                                   
05            (a)  Nothing in AS 45.50.471 - 45.50.561 applies to                                                          
06                 (1)  an act or transaction regulated by a statute or regulation [UNDER                              
07       LAWS] administered by the state, including [BY] a state regulatory board or                               
08       commission [EXCEPT AS PROVIDED BY AS 45.50.471(b)(27) AND (30), OR                                                
09       OFFICER ACTING UNDER STATUTORY AUTHORITY OF THE STATE OR OF                                                       
10       THE UNITED STATES], unless the statute or regulation [LAW REGULATING                                          
11       THE ACT OR TRANSACTION] does not prohibit the practices declared unlawful in                                      
12       AS 45.50.471;                                                                                                     
13                 (2)  an act done by the publisher, owner, agent, or employee of a                                       
14       newspaper, periodical, or radio or television station in the publication or dissemination                         

01       of an advertisement, when the owner, agent, or employee did not have knowledge of                                 
02       the false, misleading, or deceptive character of the advertisement or did not have a                              
03       direct financial interest in the sale or distribution of the advertised product or service;                       
04                 (3)  an act or transaction regulated under AS 21.36 or AS 06.05 or a                                    
05       regulation adopted under the authority of those chapters.                                                         
06    * Sec. 2. AS 45.50.481(c) is amended to read:                                                                      
07            (c)  The exemption in (a)(1) of this section does not apply to an act or                                     
08       transaction listed in AS 45.50.471(b) or regulated under AS 06.60.
