01 "An Act relating to the practice of naturopathy; and providing for an effective date."                                  
02 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF ALASKA:                                                                
03    * Section 1. AS 08.45.050 is amended to read:                                                                      
04            Sec. 08.45.050. Restrictions on practice of naturopathy. A person who                                      
05       practices naturopathy may not                                                                                     
06                 (1)  give, prescribe, or recommend in the practice                                                      
07                      (A)  a prescription drug, except a medicine that is derived                                    
08            from or is a concentrate of or is an extract of a plant, tree, root, moss,                               
09            fungus, or other natural substance if the medicine is not a controlled                                   
10            substance;                                                                                               
11                      (B)  a controlled substance;                                                                       
12                      (C)  a poison;                                                                                     
13                 (2)  engage in surgery;                                                                                 
14                 (3)  use the word "physician" in the person's title.                                                    
15    * Sec. 2. This Act takes effect immediately under AS 01.10.070(c).
