00 SENATE JOINT RESOLUTION NO. 23 01 Proposing an amendment to the Constitution of the State of Alaska relating to the 02 authority of the legislature and certain members or former members of the legislature to 03 intervene in litigation in which a law is challenged or subject to interpretation. 04 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF ALASKA: 05 * Section 1. Article II, Constitution of the State of Alaska, is amended by adding a new 06 section to read: 07 Section 22. Authority to Intervene in Litigation. The legislature and the 08 prime sponsor of a bill enacted into law have the right to intervene in a suit in which 09 the law is challenged or subject to interpretation. The legislature shall implement this 10 section. 11 * Sec. 2. The amendment proposed by this resolution shall be placed before the voters of the 12 state at the next general election in conformity with art. XIII, sec. 1, Constitution of the State 13 of Alaska, and the election laws of the state.
