01 "An Act making a special appropriation for energy assistance for rural communities;                                     
02 and providing for an effective date."                                                                                   
03 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF ALASKA:                                                                
04    * Section 1. The sum of $5,000,000 is appropriated from the general fund to the Department                         
05 of Commerce, Community, and Economic Development for the rural community energy                                         
06 assistance program for grants to be issued for energy assistance to rural communities for the                           
07 fiscal year ending June 30, 2009.                                                                                       
08    * Sec. 2. CONTINGENCY. The appropriation made by sec. 1 of this Act is contingent on                               
09 passage by the Twenty-Sixth Alaska State Legislature and enactment into law of a bill that                              
10 creates the rural community energy assistance program.                                                                  
11    * Sec. 3. This Act takes effect immediately under AS 01.10.070(c).
