01 "An Act relating to Iditarod finisher special request license plates."                                                  
02 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF ALASKA:                                                                
03    * Section 1. AS 28.10.181 is amended by adding a new subsection to read:                                           
04            (y)  Special request Iditarod race finisher plates. Upon application by the                                  
05       owner of a motor vehicle, the department may design and issue Iditarod race finisher                              
06       registration plates to a person who has finished the Iditarod race. The owner shall                               
07       supply written proof, verified by the Iditarod Trail Committee, that the owner has                                
08       successfully finished the race. The department may disapprove the issuance of                                     
09       registration plates under this subsection when the requested plates are a duplication of                          
10       an existing registration.                                                                                         
11    * Sec. 2. AS 28.10.421(d)(2) is amended to read:                                                                   
12                 (2)  special request plates for                                                                         
13                      (A)  Alaska National Guard personnel .............................. $30;                           
14                      (B)  veterans or retired veterans ........................................ $30;                    
15                      (C)  recipients of the Purple Heart ................................... none;                      

01                      (D)  owners of custom collector vehicles .......................... $50;                           
02                      (E)  Iditarod race finishers...............................................$50;                
03                      (F)  other special request plates ......................................... $30;               
04       plus the fee required for that vehicle under (b) of this section; the fee required by this                        
05       paragraph shall be collected only on the first issuance and on the replacement of                                 
06       special request plates;
