00 SENATE BILL NO. 19 01 "An Act relating to complaints concerning peace officers and village public safety 02 officers and to notification to persons filing complaints concerning peace officers and 03 village public safety officers." 04 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF ALASKA: 05 * Section 1. AS 18.65 is amended by adding a new section to read: 06 Article 1A. Complaints Concerning State Peace Officers and Village Public Safety 07 Officers. 08 Sec. 18.65.120. Complaints against peace officers and village public safety 09 officers; notification to complainants. The Department of Public Safety shall 10 provide procedures for 11 (1) filing complaints against peace officers employed by the 12 department and village public safety officers; and 13 (2) notifying the complainant of 14 (A) the status or completion of the investigation; and
01 (B) whether the complaint was found to be valid. 02 * Sec. 2. AS 39.25.080 is amended by adding a new subsection to read: 03 (f) Disclosures made to a complainant under AS 18.65.120 are not 04 confidential under this section.
