01 Relating to scheduling as a Schedule IA controlled substance gamma-hydroxybutyric acid and                              
02 certain similar substances.

04    * Section 1. AS 11.71.140 is amended by adding a new subsection to read:                                           
05            (e)  Schedule IA includes, unless specifically excepted or unless listed in                                  
06       another schedule, any material, compound, mixture, or preparation which contains any                              
07       quantity of the following substances, or which contains any of its salts, isomers,                                
08       whether optical, position, or geometric, or salts of isomers whenever the existence of                            
09       those salts, isomers, or salts of isomers is possible within the specific chemical                                
10       designation:                                                                                                      
11                 (1)  gamma-hydroxybutyric acid (GHB) (some other names include                                          
12       gamma-hydroxybutyrate; 4-hydroxybutyrate; 4-hydroxybutanoic acid; sodium                                          
13       oxybate; sodium oxybutyrate);                                                                                     
14                 (2)  when intended or used for human consumption:                                                       

01                      (A)  gamma butyrolactone (GBL);                                                                    
02                      (B)  1,4 butanediol (BD);                                                                          
03                      (C)  gamma hydroxyvalerate (GHV);                                                                  
04                      (D)  gamma-valerolactone 4-pentanolide (GVL).                                                      
05    * Sec. 2. AS 11.71.170(b)(28) is repealed.
