01 "An Act relating to the regulation of public accommodation water supply systems."                                       
02 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF ALASKA:                                                                
03    * Section 1. AS 46.03 is amended by adding a new section to read:                                                  
04            Sec. 46.03.026. Public accommodation water supply system. (a) The                                          
05       department shall adopt regulations providing for protection of a public                                           
06       accommodation water supply system by establishing minimum drinking water                                          
07       standards and standards for the construction, improvement, and maintenance of a                                   
08       water supply system serving a place of public accommodation.                                                      
09            (b)  In this section,                                                                                        
10                 (1)  "public accommodation" has the meaning given in AS 18.80.300;                                      
11                 (2)  "water supply system" means a system for the provision of water to                                 
12       a place of public accommodation for human consumption through pipes or other                                      
13       constructed conveyances that has fewer than fifteen service connections or regularly                              
14       serves fewer than twenty-five individuals and is not within the definition of "public                             
15       water system" in 42 U.S.C. 300f.                                                                                  

01    * Sec. 2. AS 46.03.720(b) is amended to read:                                                                      
02            (b)  A person may not construct, extend, install, or operate a public water                                  
03       supply system, [OR] any part of a public water supply system, a water supply system                           
04       regulated under AS 46.03.026, or any part of a water supply system regulated                                  
05       under AS 46.03.026, until plans for it are submitted to the department for review and                         
06       the department approves them in writing.
