01 "An Act relating to child abuse investigations and training."                                                           
02 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF ALASKA:                                                                
03    * Section 1. AS 47.17.033 is amended by adding new subsections to read:                                            
04            (j)  The training required under (c) of this section must address the                                        
05       constitutional and statutory rights of children and families that apply throughout the                            
06       investigation and department intervention. The training must include instruction in                               
07       conducting searches and seizures without violating the Fourth Amendment to the                                    
08       Constitution of the United States and in protecting parental rights under state law.                              
09            (k)  At the time of initial contact with a person alleged to have committed child                            
10       abuse or neglect, the department shall notify the person of the specific complaint or                             
11       allegation made against the person except that the identity of the complainant may not                            
12       be revealed.
