01 "An Act relating to the membership of and quorum requirements for the Alaska                                            
02 Commission on Aging; and providing for an effective date."                                                              
03 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF ALASKA:                                                                
04    * Section 1.  AS 47.45.200(a) is amended to read:                                                                  
05            (a)  The Alaska Commission on Aging is established in the Department of                                      
06       Health and Social Services.  The members of the commission include                                                
07                 (1)  the commissioner of health and social services or the                                              
08       commissioner's designee;                                                                                          
09                 (2)  the commissioner of commerce, community, and economic                                              
10       development or the commissioner's designee;                                                                       
11                 (3)  a senior services provider, regardless of age, who is, at the time                             
12       of appointment, a current recipient of a grant awarded under the senior grant                                 
13       program operated by the department [THE COMMISSIONER OF                                                       
14       ADMINISTRATION OR THE COMMISSIONER'S DESIGNEE];                                                                   

01                 (4)  the chair of the Alaska Pioneers' Homes Advisory Board under                                       
02       AS 44.29.500; and                                                                                                 
03                 (5)  seven persons selected on the basis of their knowledge and                                         
04       demonstrated interest in the concerns of older Alaskans, appointed by the governor in                             
05       accordance with (b) of this section.                                                                              
06    * Sec. 2.  AS 47.45.210(b) is amended to read:                                                                     
07            (b)  The member [MEMBERS] of the commission listed in                                                    
08       AS 47.45.200(a)(2) [AND (3)] may not vote on matters before the commission.  A                                    
09       majority of the members of the commission listed in AS 47.45.200(a)(1) and (3) - (5)                          
10       [AS 47.45.200(a)(1), (4), AND (5)] constitutes a quorum for conducting business and                               
11       exercising the powers of the commission.                                                                          
12    * Sec. 3.  This Act takes effect immediately under AS 01.10.070(c).
