00                   HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION NO. 10                                                                   
01 Relating to restoration of riparian habitat that is vital to the fisheries resources of the                             
02 state.                                                                                                                  
03 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF ALASKA:                                                               
04       WHEREAS the residents of Alaska are dependent on the fisheries resources of the                                 
05 state for consumptive uses, for the enjoyment of fishing, and as a source of personal income                            
06 and state revenue; and                                                                                                  
07       WHEREAS the State of Alaska acknowledges the importance of riparian fish habitat                                
08 to the state and recognizes that it must promote the use of all riparian habitat restoration                            
09 practices that are beneficial to the fish habitat of anadromous fish streams; and                                       
10       WHEREAS the State of Alaska recognizes the importance of community                                              
11 participation in riparian fish habitat restoration projects to maintain the fishery resources of                        
12 Alaska, to provide hands-on education on the fishery resources of Alaska, and to promote                                
13 stewardship of our environment and fishery resources of Alaska; and                                                     
14       WHEREAS the State of Alaska recognizes that funds raised by community groups                                    
15 and nonprofit organizations should be incorporated into riparian habitat restoration projects                           
16 whenever the funds are available in order to enhance riparian habitat and further promote                               

01 stewardship within communities; and                                                                                     
02       WHEREAS state agencies, federal agencies, and community organizations must work                                 
03 cooperatively to enhance the riparian fish habitat that is so vital to the fishery resources of                         
04 Alaska;                                                                                                                 
05       BE IT RESOLVED that the Alaska State Legislature recognizes the importance of                                   
06 maintaining and restoring healthy riparian habitats through partnerships with community                                 
07 groups and nonprofit organizations that raise funds for riparian habitat restoration through                            
08 corporate contributions.
