01 "An Act establishing the Alaska Commercial Seafood Commission."                                                         
02 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF ALASKA:                                                                
03    * Section 1.  AS 44.33 is amended by adding a new section to read:                                                 
04              Article 5A.  Alaska Commercial Seafood Commission.                                                       
05            Sec. 44.33.433.  Alaska Commercial Seafood Commission established.  (a)                                    
06       The Alaska Commercial Seafood Commission is established in the Department of                                      
07       Community and Economic Development.                                                                               
08            (b)  The commission is composed of eleven members.  The commission shall                                     
09       be composed of individuals who have at least five years' experience in the various                                
10       aspects of the commercial seafood industry in the state.  The governor shall appoint                              
11       five members of the commission.  The president of the Senate shall appoint three                                  
12       members of the commission.  The speaker of the House of Representatives shall                                     
13       appoint three members of the commission.  Each member serves at the pleasure of the                               
14       appointing authority.                                                                                             
15            (c)  The commission shall make recommendations to the governor and to the                                    

01       legislature on ways to mitigate the constraints, including governmental constraints, on                           
02       development of the commercial seafood industry in the state.                                                      
03            (d)  The commission shall report its recommendations each year to the                                        
04       governor during the first 10 days of the regular session of the legislature.  The                                 
05       commission shall notify the legislature that the report is available.
