01 "An Act relating to donations for establishment of a state veterans' home."                                             
02 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF ALASKA:                                                                
03    * Section 1.  AS 44.29.400(a) is amended to read:                                                                  
04            (a)  The Department of Health and Social Services shall apply for federal                                    
05       assistance to establish and operate state veterans' home facilities that provide                                  
06       domiciliary care and nursing home care with related medical services.  The                                    
07       department may also accept gifts, grants, bequests, or other donations from                                   
08       private individuals or organizations that are restricted by the donor for use in                              
09       establishing a state veterans' home.  The department, within available funds, shall                           
10       establish and operate veterans' homes at sites selected by the commissioner of health                             
11       and social services after consultation with the adjutant general and veterans'                                    
12       organizations.
